Audience Services Positions

Parking Attendant (WS Level 4 or Wage Position): Welcome guests and help ensure safe, efficient traffic flow in and around the parking garage for performances, lectures, and special events. Greet and assist patrons, provide directions, explain parking procedures (training provided), and place and retrieve event signage before and after events. Strong communication and customer service skills are required, along with the ability to work independently. Shifts vary weekly based on the event schedule, with most taking place evenings and weekends.

Usher (WS Level 2 or Wage Position): Provide excellent front of house service and help create a welcoming experience for patrons attending events. Check tickets, operate scanners, seat patrons, guide latecomers, monitor patron activity, assist with emergency evacuations, and staff coat room, merchandise, or accessibility service stations as needed. Communicate effectively with the House Manager and front of house team. Shifts are primarily Friday through Sunday based on the event schedule.

House Assistant (WS Level 3 or Wage Position): Support the House Manager in providing a safe, organized, and welcoming experience for patrons at events. Set up ticket scanners, support usher staff, check tickets, seat patrons, guide latecomers, monitor patron activity, assist with emergency procedures, and perform other front of house duties as assigned. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are essential. Evening and weekend availability is required based on the event schedule.

Ticketing Representative (WS Level 3 or Wage Position): Provide excellent customer service in the box office by assisting patrons with ticket purchases, subscriptions, donations, and event inquiries in person, by phone, and by email. Process ticket sales, handle cash and credit card transactions, complete occasional data entry and general office tasks, and support front of house operations as needed, including ushering, coat room, accessibility assistance, and emergency procedures. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are required. Shifts include regular box office hours as well as evenings and weekends based on the event schedule.

Technical Services  Positions

Building Monitor (WS levels 1-4): **ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED**
MANDATORY ON SITE position. Building monitors will supervise the use of Zoellner's classrooms, practice rooms and public spaces after hours, ensuring they are maintained properly and locked at the end of the shift. Hourly rounds are logged digitally via QR codes requiring photo submission clearly showing the date and time.
Other responsibilities include various routine and occasional building wide duties. Shifts are scheduled between 4:30 pm-11:00pm every day and all day Saturday and Sundays between 9am and 11pm.  Hiring minimum is for 2 shifts per week.

Lighting Technician (WS levels 1-4): Assist Zoellner’s lighting department in various performance spaces and on different types of productions.  No experience required, but must be able to follow directions, be on time, and willing to learn. It can be a physically demanding job; you may get dirty and work on ladders in/on high locations. Duties may include: clerical paperwork; hanging, focusing, and maintaining lighting equipment; performing work notes, programming and/or operating lighting systems for productions. Work independently and as part of a group.

Stage Assistant (WS levels 1-4):  **ALL POSITIONS HAVE BEEN FILLED** Assist Stage and Events Coordinator.  Duties include general stage maintenance, classroom and lobby setups/strikes and inventory upkeep. Responsibilities also include keeping a clean and organized work space to ensure a safe and efficient work area.

Stage Technician (WS levels 2-4 or wage position):  Assist tech staff supporting 200+ events.  Hang and focus lights, set up audio equipment, erect scenery and run shows in Baker Hall.  Hours are flexible; many are nights and/or weekends.  No experience required, but backstage knowledge is a plus.

Video Operator (WS levels 2-3 or wage position): Assist with setup and operation of video recording systems for recording and live streaming events. Setup and operate video systems for projection of video content. Experience and an interest in video systems is a plus but not required.

Sound Technician (WS level 2): **POSITION FILLED**
Assist the Audio Coordinator in: basic maintenance, set up, and strike of live sound/recording equipment; maintenance and upkeep of center's audio areas. No experience required, but prior live audio experience a plus.  Candidates that have previous experience or show aptitude and reliability may be considered to operate sound equipment for various projects.  Must be able to lift between 30-60 pounds.  Hours vary, some nights and weekends possible.

Education Engagement Assistant (WS Level 1 or 2): Support our office with K–12 arts education programs through office and event-related tasks. Depending on office needs, responsibilities may include assisting with ticket reservations, data entry, database updates, surveys, reports, and School Show events. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace, willing to learn database programs, and able to work independently. The schedule can be flexible.

Department of Theatre

Costume Shop Assistant  (WS levels 2-4):  assist with the construction and alterations of costumes for the Department of Theatre productions and other events as needed.  Hours dependent on schedule and work study allotment, minimum two hours per day.  Shop hours are 1-5 pm Monday - Friday, with occasional nights and weekends available.  Previous experience and knowledge of machine sewing and hand sewing encouraged.  Other skills such as wig, makeup and other crafts a plus.

Scene Shop Assistant  (WS levels 2-4): Assist with the construction and installation of scenery for Department of Theatre productions, and other tasks as needed.  Hours dependent on schedule and work study allotment, minimum two hours per day.  Shop hours are 1-5pm Monday - Friday, with occasional nights and weekends.  Previous experience and knowledge of wood working tools and construction methods encouraged; welding and metal working skills a plus.

Backstage Crew (WS level 2): This position allows students the unique experiences of working backstage for a theatrical production in the Diamond Theatre and/or Fowler Black Box. Scenery, properties, lighting, sound, media, and costuming are some of the areas you may be working in. Work study students will learn what it takes to make a show run smoothly from behind the curtain, through hands-on experience during the run of a theatrical production. Theatre is a collaborative art form requiring dedication and commitment to participation from everyone involved in its creation and execution. The theatre department produces two productions each semester, each requiring a backstage run crew. Students' primary hours would occur during 2-3 weeks of rehearsals and performances, twice per semester. This position requires night time and occasional weekend commitments in order to fulfill responsibilities. No experience is required, but backstage experience is a plus. 

 

LU Art Galleries

Visitor Services Representative  (WS level 2):  Lehigh University Art Galleries is looking for a hardworking and responsible Federal Work Study student to join their team. The purpose of this role is to assist the Galleries by offering exceptional customer service to guests as well as completing administrative and other tasks as assigned. Candidates do not need to possess extensive background knowledge in art but a love of art is a plus.  Hours: 3-10 per week, flexibility to attend evening events and/or work some Saturdays. Museum Educator (WS level 4):  The Museum Educator works with the LUAG Education and Visitor Services staff to plan, design, and implement education and interpretation programs for the campus and community. Students will have the opportunity to interact with diverse audiences, assist with exhibition-related/curriculum-based art projects for various age groups, collaborate with visiting artists, and more.  Students assist with administrative tasks, help staff to implement a range of programs on weekdays, weekends, and evenings, and create content for virtual programs. Depending on a student’s interests, they may also research and present a gallery talk or other public program. Museum Educators should be friendly, energetic, highly motivated, and creative; and have a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards interacting with learners of all ages.  Hours: 6-8 per week, flexibility to attend evening and Saturday events. Location: Main Galleries inside Zoellner Arts Center. MUST be available for trainings on Fridays at 1:00 pm during the Fall semester. Music Department

Music Department Assistant (WS Level 4):  The Music Department is seeking work study students to assist with various tasks such as making photo copies, printing ensemble parts, updating our scholarship recruitment database, assisting with posting marketing materials and room schedules, and various other tasks both administrative and hands-on. Students must be able to read music, and be comfortable with the Google Suite. It is preferable if students applying are participating in an ensemble or other classes within the music department.
