A free masterclass with Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Gary Bartz will be held on Friday February 23 in Baker Hall. This class open to the public and is in conjunction with his upcoming concert with the LU Jazz Repertory Orchestra in March. Bartz was named a 2024 Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts and has played with Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, Art Blakey and more. His impact on Jazz and accomplishments in the field are far too extensive to list here, including Grammys for "Best Latin Jazz Performance," "Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group," and the BNY Mellon Jazz 2015 Living Legacy Award. Mr. Bartz is Professor of Jazz Saxophone at Oberlin College.
